Transparent fractional CMO Pricing No Discovery Call Required to Know what this Costs.

Most consultants make you sit through a sales conversation before they'll tell you their rates. JSRG doesn't work that way. Every engagement option, every price, and every commitment is right here, so you can decide if this is the right fit before you ever reach out.

How Fractional CMO Pricing Works

Built Around Where You Are.
Designed to Grow With You.

JSRG offers two distinct types of engagements. They serve different needs and different buyers. Pick the door that sounds like you.

Door one → Guide

You already have a team executing.

You need strategic direction, not more hands. Guide gives you senior marketing counsel on a month-to-month basis with no long-term commitment.

See Guide, $3,500 / month ↓
Door two → Fractional CMO

You need embedded marketing leadership.

You need more than advice. The Fractional CMO tiers give you an embedded senior marketing executive who owns strategy, manages execution, and is accountable for results.

See the tiers, from $7,500 / month ↓

Not comfortable committing to a retainer to start? No problem! Our three fixed-price Sprints give you a defined deliverable, and 25% of the project fee can be credited toward your first month's retainer if you convert no later than two weeks prior to scheduled project end.

Fixed-Price Sprints

Not Ready for a Retainer? Start With a Sprint.

Some companies need a defined deliverable before they're ready to commit to ongoing marketing leadership. JSRG offers three fixed-price Sprints built around the most common starting points. Each one produces a concrete output you can act on immediately, and each one doubles as a working preview of what a retainer relationship is like.

Every Sprint converts. Move into any retainer tier no later than two weeks prior to your scheduled project end and 25% of your Sprint fees will be credited to your first month's retainer.

FAQ: Fractional CMO Pricing

Every fractional CMO pricing question we get asked before an engagement starts, answered in the open.

Guide

Is an advisory-only engagement enough to make a real difference?

For a company with execution already covered, yes. Guide is structured around two focused strategy sessions per month, async access for questions and quick decisions, and a quarterly roadmap that gives your team clear direction between sessions. The value is having a senior marketing executive set the strategic direction your team executes against.

Can I upgrade from Guide to a Fractional CMO tier later? +

Absolutely. Many clients start with Guide to establish strategic direction and move into a Grow or Scale engagement as the relationship develops and the scope of work grows. Upgrades can happen at any time with 30 days' notice.

What if I need more than the Guide scope in a given month? +

Short-term needs beyond the standard Guide scope are handled one of two ways: a fixed-price add-on scoped and agreed before the work starts, or a step up to a Fractional CMO tier if the need looks ongoing. Either way, the fractional CMO pricing is set in advance. No surprise hourly charges ever show up on an invoice.

Does Guide include any execution or project management support? +

No. Guide is scoped exclusively to strategic counsel. If you find yourself needing execution oversight or project management, that's a strong signal that a Fractional CMO engagement is a better fit for where your business is.

Grow

Why does Grow require a 3-month minimum? +

Marketing results take time to build. The first month is typically spent on audit, onboarding, and roadmap development. Months two and three are when execution starts compounding. A 3-month minimum ensures you have enough runway to see real results before evaluating the engagement.

What does project management actually mean in the Grow tier? +

It means we own the coordination of your marketing initiatives from brief to completion: managing timelines, keeping vendors and internal team members accountable, removing roadblocks, and making sure every project connects back to the strategic plan. You stay informed without being the one tracking every moving part.

Can Grow support a company that has no marketing team at all? +

Yes, though the engagement looks different. Without an internal team, execution typically relies on JSRG directing external vendors, freelancers, or agencies on your behalf. If you find you need more hands-on support than the Grow tier provides, Scale is likely the better fit.

What if our positioning isn't settled when a Grow engagement starts? +

The Grow strategy phase includes a positioning baseline: a working positioning statement and core message set strong enough to build the 90-day roadmap on. If your positioning needs deeper work than that, the Positioning Sprint is the right precursor, and half the Sprint fee credits toward your first month of Grow or Scale.

Scale

What does "in-house leadership presence" mean for a remote engagement? +

It means your JSRG marketing lead attends your internal meetings, leadership calls, and quarterly business reviews, in person or virtually, as a functional member of your leadership team, not an outside consultant checking in. Marketing gets represented at the table the same way a full-time CMO would represent it.

Why does Scale require a 6-month minimum? +

Brand strategy, cross-functional alignment, and embedded leadership take longer to produce compound results than project management alone. Six months is the realistic window to build positioning, establish marketing processes, align with sales, and start seeing measurable impact from the full scope of the engagement.

Does Scale include hands-on content creation? +

Scale includes content strategy, editorial direction, and campaign briefs: the strategic and directional work. It does not include writing, design, or production. Those functions are typically handled by your internal team, a freelancer, or an agency that we direct as part of the engagement.

Lead

How does the Lead fractional CMO pricing work if it's custom? +

Lead engagements are scoped individually based on the scope of responsibility required, organizational complexity, and the specific responsibilities involved. Pricing is built transparently from the initial 30-minute call. No vague retainers, no surprises.

What kinds of companies are the right fit for the Lead tier? +

The Lead tier is designed for companies that need a true Chief Marketing Officer: someone accountable for the marketing function, present at the leadership table, and driving growth as an executive partner. It is typically the right fit for companies scaling quickly, going through significant organizational change, or preparing for a major market expansion or M&A event.

Is a 12-month minimum negotiable for the Lead tier? +

The 12-month minimum reflects the reality that building and leading a full marketing function takes time to produce the kind of results that justify the investment. That said, every Lead engagement is custom. The discovery call is the right place to discuss structure, scope, and timeline in full.

Sprints

Can a Sprint lead into an ongoing retainer? +

Yes, and it often does. Many clients use a Sprint as a starting point to experience how JSRG works before moving into Guide or a Fractional CMO tier. Convert no later than two weeks prior to scheduled project end and 25% of your Sprint fee will be credited toward your first retainer month. There is no obligation to continue, but the path is built in.

How are Sprints structured and paid? +

Sprints require 50% of the total investment at kickoff and 50% upon delivery of the final work product. All terms are outlined in a straightforward agreement before work begins.

Can you do a custom Sprint that isn't listed here? +

Yes. If you have a specific marketing need that doesn't fit the three standard Sprints, reach out through the contact page and describe what you're looking to accomplish. Custom project scoping and fractional CMO pricing are available on a case-by-case basis.

Still Not Sure
Which Option Fits?

That's exactly what the discovery call is for. A 30-minute conversation is enough to understand where your business is, what your marketing needs, and which engagement option makes the most sense. No pitch, no pressure, and no commitment required to have the conversation.

No pressure. No commitment required.
